Job Description

• Float Pool position: Must float between Med Surg and Telemetry units.
• Required to float between Escondido and Poway campuses and across different levels of care based on need.
• Must pass a Telemetry test at orientation to remain on assignment.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of directly related RN experience in Medical Surgical specialty.
• At least 2 years of Telemetry experience required (higher of the two experience requirements).
• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Cerner EMR experience required.

Licenses & Certifications

• Current California RN License.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) - Healthcare Provider.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required for Telemetry.
• Pass/Fail arrhythmia exam prior to start (Tele, Med Surg, ICU, ER, PACU, etc.).
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) but not mandatory for this position unless applicable.

Testing & Competencies

• Must complete Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam with an 80% pass rate within 12 months of start.
• Unit Specialty Competency Exam with 80% pass rate within 12 months.
• Core Part I, II, and III competency exams with 80% or above, updated annually.
• Pass/Fail EKG/Medication testing assigned via LMS platform.

Background & Compliance

• 7-year background check including county criminal, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS, OIG/GSA, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP, confirming good health and free of communicable diseases.
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start (renewal annually for direct hires).
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccination or declination, COVID preferred but not required.
• Badge photo with white background required prior to start.
• HIPAA Acknowledgement and Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.

Additional Requirements

• Must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID with address.
• References: 2 references within 3 years from a manager, supervisor, or charge RN.
• Skills checklist updated annually.
• Employment application required.
