Requirements

• Licensure:

  • California RN license in hand
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Must be AHA certified
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required based on specialty, must be AHA certified
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Other:

  • Locals accepted (no travel experience explicitly required)

Background Checks & Verifications

• Standard background check (7-year search including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender check)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check
• HHS/OIG check
• Transcript, diploma, or education verification
• Primary source online license verification

Competency & Facility Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
• Competency Exam as applicable by profession (must meet or exceed passing score)
• Fire Card issued by an LAFD-approved instructor (must be obtained within 30 days after start date)
• Photo for badge
• Signed job description
• Assault Responsive Competency (ARC) training (live 4-hour training, must be obtained within 30 days of start)
• Access form, voluntary meal waiver, arbitration agreement
• De-escalation modules attestation (required for Emergency Department and CNAs)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam clearance within the past year
• Fit mask test (3M Aura 9205+ or 3M1860s)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD, QGold, or T-SPOT)
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (September - March)
• Color vision exam (14 Plate Ishihara Test)
• COVID vaccination plus booster
