Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Valencia, California
• 16-week assignment
• Night shift: 3x12s, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
• ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Trauma experience

Clinical Experience and Skills

• Emergency department experience in a combined adult/pediatric setting
• Level II trauma center experience
• STEMI and stroke-certified facility experience
• Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management
• 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Arterial line management
• Blood product administration
• Central line care and management
• Phlebotomy and starting IVs
• Continuous IV paralytics and sedation
• Emergency medications and IV vasopressors
• Procedural sedation administration
• Neurologic, trauma, orthopedic, abdominal, respiratory, infectious, psychiatric, and overdose-related emergency care
• Chest tube insertion/management
• CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilated patient care
• Triage and isolation precautions
• Managing violent behavior and suicidal patients

Scheduling Notes

• No blocked schedules
• No travel pairs
• No 48-hour contracts
• Holiday time off and excessive time off are likely not approved
• RTO must be submitted up front

Compliance and Onboarding

• Government-issued photo ID
• Background check and identity verification
• Education verification or transcript/diploma
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start
• Immunization/documentation requirements for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, flu, and COVID
• 2 professional references within 3 years of start
