Role

Travel/Contract Registered Nurse in the PCU Float Pool.

Assignment details

• Float Pool locations: Thornton (La Jolla), Jacobs (La Jolla), Hillcrest, and East Campus (La Mesa)
• Must be willing to work 4 locations during the contract
• May float to EDIP (emergency department inpatient overflow in the ER)
• Primarily assigned to the normal PCU float unit
• New unit may become active on the east campus location and would require cardiology/Neuro skills

Required qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or National Health Care Provider Solutions or Military Training Network
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or National Health Care Provider Solutions or Military Training Network
• NIHSS
• IV Certification
• IV start experience
• Phlebotomy experience
• A-line experience
• Must be able to float to all PCU units and down to MS if census permits

Unit info

• PCU float covers general medicine, surgical, neuro, onc, cardiac, and ortho
• IMU ratio: 1:3
• Tele ratio: 1:4
• MS ratio: 1:5

Schedule

• Night shift: 19:00–07:00
• 3x12 hours
• 36 hours per week
• 4-week schedule is sent 2 weeks ahead of time
• No blocked or self-scheduling
• RN receives a phone call 2 hours before shift with the facility assignment

Holidays

Must work 2 out of 3:

• Christmas Day & Eve
• Thanksgiving Day and after
• New Year’s Eve and Day

Preferred

• No RTO and a clinical pass
