Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel/contract role in Salisbury, North Carolina
• 36 hours per week
• Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
• Contract length: 20 weeks
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 2 years of telemetry experience
• Telemetry experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIHSS

Clinical Experience and Skills

• IV start
• Telemetry
• Pre- and post-procedure cardiac patient care
• Cardiac drips
• PCI
• Comfortable managing a 1:5–6 patient ratio, with the ability to take 6 patients

Unit Details

• Primary cardiac and stroke unit
• Fast-paced unit with frequent patient turnover
• Call required based on census
• Float required
• Every other weekend required
• No block scheduling
• Self-scheduling with leadership oversight

Patient Population

• Stable pre/post care for pacemaker implantation, implanted cardioverter/defibrillators, and cardiac catheterization
• Unstable angina, low-risk chest pain evaluation, CHF, dysrhythmias, new CVA, and TIA patients
• Cardiac and vascular intervention patients
• COVID-positive patients may be present during surges

Equipment and Systems

• Telemetry and pulse oximetry
• High-flow oxygen for stable patients
• BiPAP for chronic use only
• Non-rebreather mask for palliative use only
• Pyxis
• Epic Dimensions
• SBAR

Orientation and Scheduling Notes

• 36 hours of unit orientation
• Must be available every day during the first week for hospital orientation
• RTO after booking is not allowed
• RTO is limited to 7 days for auto-offer consideration

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs, white scrubs, or a mix of both
• Novant t-shirts allowed
• Jackets must match uniform material and color
• Crocs with holes are not allowed
