CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant

Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Springfield, Illinois
  • Day shift: 4x10 hours, 6:15 AM to 4:45 PM
  • 13-week contract
  • 8 cases per day
  • First-timers accepted
  • Locals accepted
  • Pending license accepted
  • Will float as needed within scope
  • On-call required: 1–2 times per week and every 3–4 weekends
  • Weekend call rotation runs from Friday 4:45 PM to Monday 6:15 AM, every 3–4 weeks
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • RTO ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

  • CVOR First Assist with 3 years of experience
  • CVOR First Assist experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • Cardiac surgery case experience including Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Mitral Valve replacement, and Pericardial window procedures
  • Vascular surgery case experience including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, and Vein stripping
  • General surgery case experience
  • Thoracic surgery case experience
  • Endoscopic procedure experience including Bronchoscopy, EGD, Laparoscopic assisted cases, and Peg tube placement/exchange
  • Trauma experience including Amputations and Gunshot/stab wounds
  • Equipment experience with Case Cart, Drills, Electrosurgical Units, and Fiber optic light source/cords
  • Aseptic technique, isolation precautions, and laser safety knowledge
  • Must be in Illinois 3 business days prior to compliance deadline for fingerprinting requirements
