Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts (rotating day/night)
- Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Shift rotation may be adjusted based on hospital operational needs
- Minimum 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of CVICU experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, with annual follow-up if history of positive TB
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer, or approved declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start date
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will result in lockout
- Orientation includes baseline competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation (90% and 80% passing scores respectively)
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided before orientation exam
- Photo for badge required (headshot on white background)
Additional Requirements
- Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history, including 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area
- Two professional references from within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Must complete annual skills checklist
- Must comply with facility policies on holiday work and shift rotations
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but permanent CVICU experience of 18 months is mandatory
- Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may need to retake orientation modules and competency exams
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency and facility approval
