Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

Work in a high acuity heart failure unit at a heart transplant center with cardiology critical care focus.
Patient diagnoses include cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, STEMI/NSTEMI, post cardiac arrest, TAVR, pulmonary hypertension, and pulmonary embolism.
Special procedures and unit details: pericardial drains/windows, targeted temperature management, pacemaker placement.
Use of specialized equipment such as PA catheters, IABP, Impella, transvenous pacemakers, CRRT, EKOS catheters, and CADD pumps for remodulin infusion.
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2.
Float requirement to ICUs and step-down units (SDUs).
Epic electronic health record experience is required.
Open to 3x12 hour shifts with potential for an occasional 4th shift.
No block scheduling requests allowed.
First-time travelers may be accommodated depending on experience level.
May be assigned to an emergency team during events, requiring staying onsite or relief duties as assigned by unit manager.

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with Epic electronic health record system
