Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, nights (Friday to Sunday, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope between main areas
  • Daily caseload: Varies

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist within the last year
  • Proficiency in abdominal Doppler imaging and transplant imaging
  • Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support), ARDMS, and ARRT (Sonography) required

Certifications & Compliance

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
  • ARDMS or ARRT (Sonography) certification
  • Background check including 7 years of history and multiple national/state registries
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health requirements including:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/booster documentation
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption during flu season (Aug-April)
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
  • Color blindness test required prior to start
  • Education verification and diploma/transcripts preferred for clearance

Orientation & Facility Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, business casual attire)
  • Upload COVID vaccination records if available; if not, complete vaccination declination form
  • Must comply with hurricane season emergency response assignments (June-November)

Additional Notes

  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility is a Magnet, Teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital with 865 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Parking available nights and weekends with a one-time fee
  • Travelers should be prepared for possible emergency response team assignments during hurricane season
