Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Trauma ICU
  • Shift: Rotating (typically 3 weeks days, 3 weeks nights)
  • Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, specifically with Trauma patients
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (must pass Relias EKG exam)
  • Proficient in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
  • ICU experience at a Level I Trauma Center or teaching hospital preferred

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – may be required if assignment extends beyond 9 months
  • Other certifications as applicable to Trauma ICU nursing

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Professional license primary source verification (Missouri RN license verifiable on NURSYS)
  • Drug testing within 1 year, including standard panels
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (N95 respirator) renewed annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframe
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Facility-specific documents such as HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene policy, dress code policy, and orientation modules must be completed prior to start

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Trauma experience
  • Proficient in EKG interpretation and management of dysrhythmias

Additional Notes

  • Must adhere to facility policies including fingernail and hand hygiene policies
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start
  • No on-call requirement, but must be willing to float within scope
  • No block scheduling accommodation
  • Must comply with all background checks and state-specific requirements for Missouri
