Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Role involves floating between Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Postpartum (PP) units as part of a maternity float pool (true LDRP positions).
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15), totaling 36 hours per week.
• Work schedule includes every other weekend and holiday.
• Start dates available: June 10 or June 24 only.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with recent experience within the last year.
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN (Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID.
• Massachusetts Statewide iCORI Release (criminal background check authorization).
• 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and OIG/SAM checks. Annual update required for direct hires.
• Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable; diplomas not accepted).
• NURSYS verification of RN license within 30 days prior to start.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness to work without restrictions.
• Drug test within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required).
• Immunizations and/or declinations as applicable:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with titers or vaccines; declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU
  • Varicella with titer, vaccine, or documented history; declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or titer, or declination with documentation
  • Seasonal Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination (most recent) or facility-specific declination required
• Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; chest X-ray if positive TB history, plus TB questionnaire.
• References: Two professional references within three years of start.
• Employment application documenting 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days.
• Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually as applicable.

Additional Notes

• Up to 5 days of Return to Orientation (RTO) allowed.
• Local candidates eligible for same pay rate as travelers.
• Candidates must be aware that failure to pass required orientation exams results in immediate contract cancellation.
• Study materials for medication and telemetry exams will be provided during compliance and orientation process.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses comfortable with maternity float pool assignments and who meet the certification and compliance requirements listed above.
