PCU RN Travel/Contract Job

Overview

• Location: Roanoke, Virginia
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Ventilator experience required (ventilator care for chronic trach patients)
• Experience with Epic

Schedule and Assignment Details

• May work every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
• Floating required within skillset
• Accepts first-time travelers
• Locals accepted

Clinical Focus

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Medication administration, including cardiac drips without titration
• Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Rapid response and code team activation
• Isolation precautions and telemetry settings in stepdown-level care

Unit Setting

• Stepdown environment with surgical PCU focus
• Typical patient ratio: 1:5, with staffing goal of 1:4
• Care includes chronic trach patients and backup support for trauma/surgical services

Compliance and Pre-Start Items

• Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
• E-Verify or attestation required
• 2 clinical references required
• Background check, education verification, physical exam, fit mask, TB screening, drug screen, and immunization documentation required before start
