Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Position: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:50 - 07:20)
• Schedule:

  • Float required between Mother/Baby and Scrub roles
  • Call required: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
  • Every other weekend required

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
• Experience in charge nurse roles

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

• Ability to float between Mother/Baby and Scrub units
• Participate in call schedule as specified
• Work night shifts as scheduled

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• E-Verify and I9 attestation required prior to start
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
• Education verification for highest degree required by position
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease
• Annual TB questionnaire and negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon, or T-spot) within 1 year
• Immunization documentation required:

  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Varicella
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 23 - Mar 31)

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher) prior to start and updated every 3 years
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for applicable units (includes Telemetry and ICU specialties)
• Color blindness testing (online or in-person) required

Documentation & Verification

• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

Additional Notes

• Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
• Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to start
• Annual safety manual acknowledgement required
• Must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements
