Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Edmonds, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in a standard community hospital surgical setting with approximately 40% inpatient and 60% ambulatory/outpatient cases.
- Circulate in ENT, General Surgery, Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, OB/GYN, Ortho, Plastics, Post-op, and Pre-op.
- Scrub in Vascular surgeries.
- No CVOR, neuro, or robotics experience required.
- Must have experience in Orthopedics and Spine specialties.
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (Day shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
- No weekend shifts.
- Call required approximately 48-56 hours per 6-week schedule (about 6-7 eight-hour shifts every 6 weeks).
- First-time travelers are allowed.
- Previous permanent staff at this facility are not eligible to work as travelers in OR units or OR specialties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including at least 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience.
- Operating Room experience within the last year.
- Experience in Orthopedics, Spine, Vascular Surgery, ENT Surgery, and OB/GYN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Patient Population
- Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients.
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation equivalent).
- ACLS preferred (same certification standards as BLS).
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy, EFM, IV Certification, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification may be required based on unit-specific needs and clinical track verification.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Competency exams required as applicable by specialty.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 verification).
- Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires transcript/diploma.
- Washington State Patrol (WSP/WATCH) search required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for certain facility types.
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating fitness to work.
- Fit mask test required for travel staff, valid within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; updated annually.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or positive titer, or signed declination.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted.
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated staff must follow masking policies.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instant tests acceptable.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned learning management system.
- Completion of facility-specific float policy acknowledgment (may be required to float to other nearby facilities).
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required prior to start.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel staff.

- No weekend shifts.
