Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)

Job Description
- Position is for a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) setting.
- Night shift work with 12-hour shifts.
- Candidates must be prepared for a fast-paced, acute care environment.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) training and competency.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified (preferred but not required for ER).
- Comprehensive background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required prior to start.
- Medication/pharmacology competency and other specialty-specific competency exams as applicable.
- Pass/fail telemetry assessment (minimum 80%) on cardiac rhythm interpretation on first day of orientation; remediation provided if needed.
- Proficiency in independent telemetry strip interpretation due to absence of telemetry technicians.
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider confirming ability to perform job duties.
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (approved mask types specified).
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years or declination.
- Negative TB test (PPD, T-Spot, or QGold) within 1 year or chest x-ray if previously positive.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity (2 MMR vaccines or serologic titers).
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity (2 vaccines, positive titer, or documented history).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season.
- COVID vaccine records or declination.
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant/rapid accepted).
- Review and sign facility-specific documents including:
- Code of Conduct
- Patient Abuse Reporting
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
- Orientation Packet Acknowledgement
- Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security (required for nurses for Pyxis access)
- Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire required.
- Two professional references within 3 years of hire.
- Skills checklist required.
- Compliance with New York State Nurse Aide Registry and Medicaid Exclusion List requirements.
Additional Notes
- Telemetry skills are critical; nurses must be proficient in cardiac rhythm interpretation due to lack of telemetry technicians.
- Stroke education (NIH Stroke Scale training) is required annually; minimum 2 hours for ER nurses.
- Orientation includes pass/fail testing on telemetry and medication knowledge.
- Candidates must not submit unless requested by the designated contact.
