Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract
Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45–7:15)
Patient Ratio: Up to 6:1
Float Requirement: Must be willing to float to other med/surg/telemetry units as assigned
Scheduling: Facility may consider alternating 36/48 hour shifts or straight 48-hour shifts
Start Date: Within the next 3-5 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing (within the last year)
- ACLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Prior travel nursing experience
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- 7-year background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
- Facility-specific employment documents including Standards of Conduct, Dress Code Acknowledgement, Standards of Behavior, and COVID declination (if applicable)
- Orientation and Safety Training Modules, HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing)
- Annual TB test/quantiferon (updated if gap >30 days)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or Halyard Orange Duckbill masks accepted; PAPR not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years if positive)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct–Apr); mask required if declined until March 31
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination (annual boosters not required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes THC, cocaine, opiates, methamphetamine, PCP, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, oxycodone)

- Cannot accommodate block scheduling on this unit
- Must complete skills checklist annually
- Two professional references within 3 years required
- Resume or employment application copy required

Pros
Pro RT environment, working with the unit staff and department staff. Charting is easy cerner. If you know your job you will be fine.
Cons
Scheduling is very difficult for travelers. Full time is 3&4, weekends are alternating Saturday and Sunday. Bureaucracy issues. Housing is difficult to find and expensive due to oil city. In the NICU you are on your own not many staff or team leads crossed trained. There is some disorganization.
