ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Adrian, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 - 7:00)
• Patient Age Group: Adults
• Staffing Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients on all shifts
• Medication System: Pyxis
• Electronic Health Record: EPIC required
• Communication Method: SBAR
• Patient Diagnoses Commonly Seen:

  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • COVID-19
  • Acute alcohol withdrawal medical diagnoses
  • NSTEMI (Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
  • Respiratory distress
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) exacerbation
• Clinical Skills:

  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips preferred
  • Care of ventilated patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Michigan
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required annually
• Education verification of highest level required
• Fingerprinting: Michigan LARA fingerprint results required prior to start (not required for all units; psych positions require fingerprint clearance)
• State-specific background checks and searches as applicable

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within last 12 months (latex-free PPE available)
• N95 fit test within 12 months of start, updated annually (onsite completion possible with approval if needed)
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 3 months of start, updated annually
• Immunizations or proof of immunity (positive titer, vaccination, or approved exemption) required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted except for certain facilities)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) with documentation deadline by 11/1
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable unless on prescription medications)

Additional Information

• Unit accepts first-time travelers on a case-by-case basis
• No local travelers within 50 miles allowed
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams required as applicable
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required and can be obtained onsite after start with approval
• Professional headshot and badge photo required for ID badge (plain background, no filters)
• Dress code adherence required (navy and white scrubs)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong cardiac and ventilator care skills, who hold a Michigan RN license and are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced adult ICU setting.
