Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Bristol, Tennessee
Schedule:

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 7:00)
  • 36 hours per week (36/36 schedule)
  • 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
  • No on-call required
  • Floating to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with some possible Medical-Surgical (MS) shifts as needed

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Tennessee
  • Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Orientation & Work Conditions

  • General orientation begins on Sundays; includes 16 hours of non-billable online compliance training
  • Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
  • Additional overtime shifts may be flexed based on hospital census without penalty
  • Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required for Tennessee-licensed candidates
  • Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required
  • Photo for badge must meet specific standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, contaminated sharps/body fluid exposure statement, smoking/tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire (time sensitive)
  • Respiratory medical clearance form to be completed by candidate and facility
  • CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use must be followed

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency)
  • Respirator fit testing completed onsite; must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility policy (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent)
  • Immunizations or titers required:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start (instant test acceptable as placeholder)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blindness testing required once (no annual update needed)
  • Competency exam required
  • Skills checklist required
  • References: minimum 2 preferred, 3 ideal
