NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse
- Shift: Rotating 3x12 hour shifts (Day/Night); cannot do straight days or nights but can provide preference
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Patient Ratios: 1:1 or 2:1
- Floating: Required within scope to other ICU environments (PICU, CICU, acute care floors) as needed
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Potentially required
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Remote Time Off (RTO): Must be included in submission and approved; no RTO during first 2 weeks due to orientation
- Scrub Color: Any color or T-shirt top, must be age-appropriate and kid-friendly
- Charting System: EPIC
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year
- Experience working with neonate patients
- Telemetry experience
- Completed a minimum of 2 travel assignments
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Compliance and Testing Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check required (county civil, state, national, FACIS 3, sex offender, global sanctions, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Background check must be current and complete prior to start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (any Tdap after age 11 accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) - titer or vaccines with boosters if needed
- Varicella - titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B - positive antibody titer, completed vaccine series, or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct-Mar)
- TB testing:
- Qgold/Tspot within 12 weeks of start OR 2 PPDs (one within 1 year, second within 12 weeks)
- TB questionnaire required prior to start and annually (except Emergency and Radiology departments)
- Respiratory Protection:
- Fit test required within 12 months prior to end of assignment; must be valid for entire assignment
- Fit testing on site not allowed
- Medical clearance for respirator use required annually
- Competency Exams:
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (passing score 80%)
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam required (80% score)
- Unit-specific competency exams required prior to start
- Skills Checklists:
- Pediatric skills checklist required for all NICU RNs
- Photo for Badge:
- Must be on blue background, no hats or headwear, submitted within 72 hours of contract signing
Orientation and Training
- No RTO during first 2 weeks due to orientation
- Required to complete facility-specific training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours)
- Epic inpatient nurse test-out modules required before start
- Respiratory protection training provided via facility platform

Additional Notes
- Candidates must include NICU level of each facility in submission profile
- Floating to PICU, CICU, and acute care floors is highly preferred
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Meal waiver agreement applicable for clinical candidates signed on or after 1/1/2026 (optional waiver of second meal period)
