Registered Nurse (RN) – Mother Baby / Post Partum (Nights)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily on Mother Baby / Post Partum unit with some Labor & Delivery exposure preferred.
• Patient types include high-risk obstetrics, antepartum, C-sections, and vaginal deliveries.
• Patient ratios typically 1:3-4 couplets.
• Experience required with drips such as magnesium and insulin.
• Must be willing to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Orientation provided (starting 6/22).
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: EPIC.
• Hospital-provided scrubs.

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Minimum 12 months recent experience in Post Partum / Mother Baby care (required).
• Experience with Magnesium and Insulin drips (required).
• EPIC EMR experience (required).
• Completed at least one prior travel nursing assignment within the last 12 months (no first-time travelers).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or ARC/Red Cross).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Work history/resume must show recent/current Post Partum / Mother Baby / Labor & Delivery experience.
• Skills checklist specific to Post Partum / Mother Baby and/or Labor & Delivery discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Labor & Delivery.
• Experience with high-risk OB patients.
• Experience with C-section and vaginal deliveries.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months from charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, or equivalent.

Work Details

• Shift: Nights
• Typical workweek: 36-40 hours; overtime billable after 40 hours.
• Holiday and overtime pay multipliers apply.
• Call back and on-call pay available.
• Unit size: 45 beds, 2 operating rooms.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must not have worked travel assignments in this market within the past 12 months if previously employed full-time or PRN at this employer’s float pool.
