Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Pediatric Transplant)

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Pediatric Transplant RN
  • Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (08:30 AM - 05:00 PM)
  • No on-call or weekend requirements; holiday coverage as needed
  • No float requirement
  • Work setting: Outpatient clinic specializing in pediatric pre/post liver and small bowel transplant, and hepatology
  • Role includes patient care coordination such as labs, imaging, phone triage, and communication with the multidisciplinary team

Requirements

  • Must have a valid DC RN license in hand upon submission
  • BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric pre/post liver transplant, small bowel transplant, and hepatology
  • Prior travel assignment completion required
  • Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – review as applicable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required for RN/LPNs working in Pediatrics
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – as required by unit
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as required by unit
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 80% or higher within 3 years of start)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (specific units only; must meet detailed scoring requirements)
  • Other certifications as required by unit or profession

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification of highest degree required by position
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
  • I-9 and E-Verify attestation required upon hire
  • Valid driver's license if driving is an essential job function

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete on-site if needed)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually; TB questionnaire if prior positive history without treatment
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or signed declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
  • COVID-19 vaccination strongly recommended; declination requires mask use during patient encounters

Experience & References

  • Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience within the past 3 years
  • Completion of at least one prior travel assignment required for travel contracts

  • Completion of facility-specific modules prior to start date
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual required
  • Skills checklist and competency exams must be current and updated annually
