Job Opportunity: Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45–6:45)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide patient care in a Neuro ICU setting with a 2:1 patient ratio.
  • Float to other ICUs as needed.
  • Every other weekend work required.
  • Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes.
  • Manage EVD, ventilators, and stroke patients.
  • Conduct discharge planning and patient/family education.
  • Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel per Board of Nursing guidelines.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Block scheduling may be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are welcome.
  • Must be able to work night shifts and float to other ICU units.
  • Patient care involves complex neurological cases in a certified stroke center and neuro ICU environment.
  • Emphasis on stroke management and ventilator care.

Summary

This is a night shift travel contract for a Neuro ICU RN with a preference for 2+ years ICU experience. The role requires strong critical care skills, certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, and the ability to float between ICUs. Comprehensive health and background clearances are mandatory. Prior travel experience is not required.

High complexity patients and staff assignments are based on room numbers and not acuity. So you could have a heavy team while someone else has a light team. There was no teamwork
