Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Patient population: Mixed medical/surgical and intermediate care patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:6 depending on shift assignment
• Shift: Night shift with 36 or 48 hour options

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
• Prior travel experience not required

Required Skills and Experience

• Epic electronic health record experience required

Required Qualifications and Certifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (as applicable)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (as applicable)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (as applicable)
• Chemotherapy certification (as applicable)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (as applicable)
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (as applicable)
• NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (as applicable)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• I-9 verification
• E-Verify compliance
• Background check (7 years, updated annually) including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry, and education verification
• Education verification (highest level)
• Fingerprinting (for certain states, time sensitive)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start, renewed annually
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history of chickenpox
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 - 03/31)

Additional Requirements

• Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
• Work history verification for the past 7 years
• Completion of employment application/resume submission
• Photo for badge identification

Travel Radius

• Candidates must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
