Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU
Location: Amarillo, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Patient population: Mixed medical/surgical and intermediate care patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4 to 1:6 depending on shift assignment
- Shift: Night shift with 36 or 48 hour options
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Prior travel experience not required
Required Skills and Experience
- Epic electronic health record experience required
Required Qualifications and Certifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (as applicable)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (as applicable)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (as applicable)
- Chemotherapy certification (as applicable)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (as applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (as applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (as applicable)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- I-9 verification
- E-Verify compliance
- Background check (7 years, updated annually) including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry, and education verification
- Education verification (highest level)
- Fingerprinting (for certain states, time sensitive)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation (only one attempt allowed)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history of chickenpox
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01 - 03/31)
Additional Requirements
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Work history verification for the past 7 years
- Completion of employment application/resume submission
- Photo for badge identification
Travel Radius
- Candidates must be willing to travel within a 50-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
