Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
Work Areas: Labor & Delivery (L&D) and Mother/Baby unit, with possible floating to sister facility

Job Description

• Assist as OB/surgical tech with cesarean sections (c/s), tubal ligations, dilation and curettage (D&C), emergency hysterectomy, and circumcision of newborns.
• Must be competent in surgical tech duties related to OB procedures.
• Work in a Level I Birthing Center with low-risk patients.
• Average daily census: ~6 patients (about 40 deliveries per month).
• Patient age range includes adults and neonates/infants.
• Use specialized equipment such as hearing screening machines and transcutaneous bilirubin (TCB) machines (training provided).
• Floating between L&D, Mother/Baby units, and sister facility as needed.
• No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of OB Technician experience.
• OB Technician experience within the last year.
• Experience as a Surgical Technologist.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Required Certifications and Licenses

• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.

Patient and Unit Details

• Level I Birthing Center (low risk).
• Patient population includes adults and neonates/infants.
• Unit includes 5 rooms and 10 beds.

Additional Requirements and Information

• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required.
• Physical exam, drug testing, and immunizations/vaccinations (including flu, TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella) must be current and compliant.
• Fit testing for N95 respirators required.
• Various competency exams and facility-specific documents must be completed prior to start.
• Two supervisory references required within 1 year of start.
• Employment history verification for the past 5 years required.
• Must complete confidentiality agreements, dress code review, and other facility-specific compliance documents.
• Floating between units and occasional work at a sister facility may be required.
• Weekend and holiday shifts are mandatory as scheduled.

Summary

This is a travel contract position for an OB Tech with a focus on surgical assistance in OB procedures including cesarean sections and emergency surgeries. The role requires a minimum of 2 years of OB tech experience, BLS certification, and preferably CST certification. The position involves working 3 twelve-hour day shifts per week, with every other weekend and holiday coverage. Candidates must be flexible to float between related units and facilities as needed.
