Cath Lab Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work schedule: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
• Weekend requirement: Once every fifth week
• Call requirement: Yes, 5-8 shifts depending on staffing
• Holiday requirement: Yes
• Float requirement: No

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, including experience within the last year
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Louisiana
• ARRT or RCIS certification
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• LSRT (Limited Scope Radiologic Technologist) accepted as temporary pending full certification (issued within 3-5 days after fee and proof of ARRT)

Competencies & Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must score 80% or higher, updated annually)
• Core competencies Part I, II, and III (required and updated annually)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by facility but required by placement agency)
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines (two-step skin test or equivalent)
• Annual TB questionnaire
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titer low
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months of start)
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titer low
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted under specific conditions
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (comprehensive panel including marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, opiates, etc.)

Background & Compliance Checks

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including social security trace, nationwide criminal, sex offender, federal databases, and FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Sex offender search processed by client request
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Summary

This Cath Lab Tech travel contract position requires a minimum of 2 years (preferably 3) of specialized experience in radiology/cardiology with strong procedural and equipment knowledge. Candidates must hold ARRT or RCIS certification and BLS, with state licensure verified promptly. The role includes weekend, call, and holiday responsibilities on a day shift schedule. Comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements must be met prior to or shortly after start.
