Registered Nurse - PCU (Johnson City, Tennessee) - Travel/Contract

Job Details

• Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 36/36 schedule with rotating weekends and holidays
• Call: No call required
• Floating: Floating required (must float on 1:7 MS ratios when floated)
• Orientation:

  • General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Shift Flexibility:

  • Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
  • Additional shifts above work commitment may be offered as overtime and flexed as needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Participate actively in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care duties

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, updated annually
• Education verification
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check (if licensed or working in Tennessee)
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
• Respirator medical evaluation and fit testing (completed onsite)
• Annual safety manual acknowledgement
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Candidate must comply with dress code, uniform guidelines, and facility-specific policies including smoking, tobacco use, and contaminated sharps exposure statements
• Photo for badge must meet specific standards and be submitted within 48 hours of contract signing
• Respirator medical clearance and questionnaire must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• Candidate must be prepared for floating and flexible scheduling based on census needs
