Job Summary
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients according to established standards and nursing process.
- Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff.
- Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and supervisory discretion.
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide learning opportunities and health information to patients, families, and team members.
- Delegate and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.

Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Acute care facility experience preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California required.
Certifications Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or HeartCode ACLS.
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS).
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM).
Required Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Relias required).
- Competency Exam (Relias required).
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (annual, Relias required).
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (Relias required).
- Color Blind Testing (minimum 80% score).
- Unit-specific skills checklist.
Licenses & Background Checks
- Current picture identification (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Background check covering last 7 years, including social security trace, county/state searches, federal court jurisdictions, OIG, OFAC, SAM, FACIS 3, National Sex Offender, and DMV/MVR if driving is required.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 90 days of start.
- Drug testing within 30 days before start.
- Fit mask testing (N95 preferred).
- Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Hepatitis A (for dietary roles)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination/exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 30).
- COVID-19 vaccination series required; medical or religious exemptions considered. Seasonal booster highly recommended or declination required.
Organizational Requirements
- All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment; medical and religious exemptions may apply.
- Participation in E-Verify is required.
- Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
- Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history.
- Compliance with facility-specific documents including code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, and intellectual property rights assignment.
- Fire card certification required within 30 days of start.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on unit.
