Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Schedule:
- 36 hours per week, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12s)
- Every other weekend required
- 50/50 rotation between day and night shifts depending on department needs (limited rotation unless requested)
- Straight night shifts may be considered for strong candidates
Qualifications & Experience
- 2-3 years of experience required
- At least 1 year of experience in PICU or Pediatric CVICU
- No prior travel experience required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Massachusetts state license pending acceptable
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or American Red Cross only, required for all clinical/allied positions
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units if assignment extends beyond 13 weeks
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for specific pediatric intensive care and emergency units
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Preferred for NICU, must have PALS or NRP
- Chemo Certification: Required for Oncology positions
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for Labor & Delivery (AWHONN preferred)
- Tech Certification Verification: Professional certification verification required within 30 days prior to start (e.g., NBRC for Respiratory Therapists)
- State License Verification: Must be verified through MA.gov within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification: For RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for all Psych and Behavioral Health positions
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 10-year criminal background check within 6 months prior to start, including aliases, nationwide and county checks, SSN trace, and federal/state sanctions
- Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 6 months of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- International background checks if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S. in last 10 years
- Background checks must be started within 24 hours of booking and updated annually for direct candidates
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared to work with no restrictions
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap after age 11 acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual requirement)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B (series and/or declination accepted)
- Varicella proof of 2 vaccinations or positive titer
- Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within last 12 months (not required for APN)
- Seasonal vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine required annually (or approved medical/religious exemption)
- COVID-19 vaccine highly preferred but not required; exemptions accepted with documentation
- RespSafety Clearance: Required for all travelers regardless of fit test status; facility-specific fit testing done onsite
- References: Two professional references from two separate employers within the last three places of employment
- Employment Application: Must include 10-year work history; gaps over 30 days require explanation
- Skills Checklist: Unit-specific competency verification within one year prior to start
Additional Notes
- Rotation between day and night shifts may occur but is limited unless requested
- Local candidates (within 50 miles) have a different rate structure (not detailed here)
- Onboarding packet completion required approximately 2 weeks prior to start
- Various facility-specific forms and attestations related to background checks, immunizations, and exemptions must be completed timely
