X-Ray Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
  • Coverage: Inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Experience with fluoroscopy and surgery required
  • Pediatric (PEDS) experience required
  • Must be able to float and work weekends
  • Unit does NOT accept first-time travelers
  • Scrub colors: Any color accepted
  • Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards
  • Demonstrates proficiency with all x-ray equipment and protocols

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technician license in Louisiana
  • Minimum 2 years of Radiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Experience with fluoroscopy (Flouro) and surgery
  • X-Ray Technician experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID matching all documentation
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
    • Social Security trace
    • County, nationwide, sex offender, federal checks
    • FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma matching degree required
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months (not required by employer but required by placement agency)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper forms)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 3 months of start (two-step skin test or equivalent)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declinations must be signed within 12 months)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31), with exemptions and declinations accepted
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)

Competency & Certification Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (annual, minimum 80%)
  • General competency exam (annual, minimum 80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (annual, minimum 80%)
  • Core training parts I, II, and III (annual)

Additional Notes

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification not specifically required for this role
  • Photo for badge required
  • Must comply with employee appearance policy
  • Floating and weekend shifts required
  • Prior travel experience is required; first-time travelers are not accepted for this unit

This position is ideal for experienced radiology technologists with pediatric and fluoroscopy/surgery experience who have prior travel contract experience and meet all licensing and compliance requirements.
