Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Med Surg (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Trauma level II experience
• Peripheral IV (PIV) insertion
• Experience with Epic

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Bi-weekly orientation
• First to float within skillset
• May float to another campus with 2 hours’ notice
• Mid-shift float within the same campus may occur
• 3 weekends out of every 6-week schedule
• Every other holiday
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius

Clinical and Unit Details

• Observation Med-Surg setting
• Patient population includes chest pain, abdominal pain, flank pain, CVA/TIA, generalized weakness, and placement-related cases
• Skills needed include PIV insertion and management of stable drips such as heparin, lasix, and protonix
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are expected
• Teaching hospital environment; may require precepting students and new hires

Charting

• Recent EPIC experience required, with a checkoff class

Additional Notes

• Navy blue scrubs required
• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
