Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

Job Description

The PCU/Telemetry Registered Nurse is responsible for providing patient care using the Nursing Process in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. This role requires critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership to ensure safe delivery of care. The nurse will maintain clinical competencies through continuing education, delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience, and supervise assigned personnel delivering patient care.

• Patient Ratio: 1:5
• EMR System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Royal Blue

Scope of Role

• Medical Surgical – 5th floor (ortho, surgical, stroke)
• Medical Tele Surgical – 6th floor (cardiac, respiratory, dialysis, hospice)
• Progressive Care Unit – 2nd floor (hemodynamically stable patients, one non-titratable drip, cardiac monitoring, cardiac, STEMI, stroke)
• May float between Medical Surgical floors 5 and 6

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification

Additional Information

• 48-hour weekly guarantees cannot be approved
• Blocked scheduling may be requested
• May be required to work on certain holidays (e.g., Mother’s Day, Memorial Day)
• Maximum request time off (RTO): 36 hours
• No on-call required

This position does not require prior travel experience.
