Mammography Tech - Travel Position
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Facility Type: Large breast imaging center within an 815-bed acute care hospital, regional referral center, Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and children's hospital.
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Work Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Saturdays 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (as needed)
- Floating: Required to float to other breast centers if needed
- Patient Volume:
- Average 38 screening mammograms per day
- Average 18 diagnostic mammograms per day
- Staffing: Approximately 10 techs on site daily
- Equipment: GE Senographe Pristina
- Documentation Systems: Cerner, Penrad
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certifications:
- Current ARRT Mammography (M) certification per MQSA standards
- BLS certification
- Training Requirements:
- Initial 40 hours of mammography training
- Continuing education for mammography
- Minimum 200 mammograms performed in the last 2 years
- 8 hours digital mammography training
- 8 hours digital tomosynthesis training
- Missing documentation will require onsite training before performing mammograms
- Experience:
- Screening mammogram experience required
- Competent in additional imaging views such as magnification and spot compression
- Advanced mammography imaging skills, including demonstrating complicated cases to radiologists
- Experience working in a women’s imaging center, mindful of patients with cancer history and treatments (lumpectomy, chemotherapy, radiation)
- Additional Skills:
- IV certification
- Competent in invasive and sterile procedures
