Cath Lab Technologist - Travel Contract

Location: Santa Maria, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technologist for a travel assignment in a hospital setting. The role involves working primarily in the Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology (IR), and Electrophysiology (EP) labs with a variety of common cases including cardiac catheterizations, stent placements, ablations, and device implantations.


Work Schedule

  • 8-hour shifts, typically 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (self-scheduling available)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Weekend call required every other weekend (Friday 3:30 PM to Monday 7:00 AM), with possible variations
  • Evening weekday call shifts from 3:30 PM to 7:00 AM as needed
  • Holiday call required (optional to work holidays)

Clinical Environment & Equipment

  • Unit: Cath Lab & IR with 3 suites/labs
  • Average 8-12 cases per day
  • EMR system: Cerner - Xper
  • Equipment includes Philips telemetry monitors and ventilators
  • Floating required between IR, Cath Lab, and EP Lab
  • One-week floor-specific orientation provided

Common Procedures

  • IR: venous placement, port-a-cath, fistula, biliary tube, nephrostomy tube, IVC filter
  • Cath Lab: left and right cardiac catheterizations, STEMIs, ICDs, pacemakers, carotid and peripheral interventions
  • EP Lab: ablations and device implantations (EP experience preferred)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California
  • Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Fluoroscopy certification

Call and On-Call Details

  • Call team consists of one nurse and two techs
  • 30-minute response time required for call shifts
  • Charge nurse available; supervisor on call after hours (7 PM - 7 AM)
  • Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services available 24/7

Additional Information

  • Scrub color and scrubs provided
  • No IV team support
  • Flat overtime rate applies for all OT hours
  • Floating between labs expected
