Contract Length

• 12 weeks

Schedule

• Days
• 12-hour shifts
• 48 hours per week
• Start dates only: 10/12 or 10/26
• Every other weekend required

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA or ARC)
• Basic medical/surgical relevant and current experience
• Large hospital experience

Unit Details

• Med/Surg unit with 128 beds
• Float pool assignment between Med/Onc, 2 surgical units, and 2 medical units
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Total care; no PCAs
• No tele on the unit; only occasional strip reading
• Remote tele monitoring
• Charge nurse on each shift, and the charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aids/patient care techs are present; ratios vary
• Respiratory support is readily available; nasal cannula used on floors
• Floating may be to any Med/Surg pod
• 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation
• Navy scrubs required; scrubs not provided

Patient Population

• Surgical services: colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, general, ortho
• Medical conditions: diabetes, heart disease, COPD, kidney and GI conditions

Additional Notes

• Interview is direct with the manager
• No holiday requirement
• No call or standby requirement
• Staff are assigned to need areas
