Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• Intermediate fetal monitoring
• Able to read and interpret fetal strips
• Critical thinking
• Follow quality metrics
• Previous travel experience
• Must be able to read strips
• Required to titrate drips
• Required to read own strips

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS
• NRP
• STABLE

Unit Details

• 15 L&D beds total: 7 L&D and 8 postpartum
• 1 OR suite on the unit for C-sections
• About 58 births per month
• AWHONN ratios: 1:1 for pit, mag, or insulin drips; 1:3 couplet care
• Common patient mix includes obstetric/neonates, hypertension, and GDM
• Tries not to deliver patients less than 36 weeks
• Common titratable drips: pitocin, insulin, magnesium
• Charge nurse is on each shift and takes an assignment
• CNA support is available
• OB/Neonatologist is not in house 24/7
• Anesthesia is not in house 24/7
• RT equipment is available
• Tele/Monitor Techs are not on the unit
• EFM system: traceview/PIP
• EMR: Meditech

Scheduling and Float

• No self-scheduling; block scheduling is allowed
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• Call or standby depends on staffing
• Floats to Medsurg and ER as needed
• May float anywhere in the hospital where needed
• Permanent staff are usually first to float

Orientation and Dress Code

• 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation
• Scrub color is maroon
• Scrubs are provided, and RN changes into surgical scrubs on the unit

Additional Notes

• No clinical involvement
• RTO must be provided upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities within the past 12 months
