Physical Therapist - Contract Position
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)

Job Summary
Provide physical therapy services in a skilled nursing environment to maximize residents' functional abilities and independence in activities of daily living. Collaborate with residents, caregivers, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and modify therapeutic plans of care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform evaluations and therapeutic procedures under physician or authorized healthcare provider orders.
- Develop and document individualized treatment plans with functional goals, frequency, duration, and modalities.
- Consult with physicians and healthcare team members regarding care plans and discharge needs.
- Monitor treatment effectiveness and adjust plans accordingly.
- Document all resident interactions and therapy services clearly in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Recommend and instruct residents on appropriate assistive devices.
- Provide education to residents and caregivers, documenting teaching outcomes.
- Refer residents to Physical Therapist Assistants as appropriate and supervise assistant-level staff when applicable.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, Private Pay, and other reimbursement regulations in documentation.
- Participate in team meetings and provide in-service education to nursing and other departments.
- Maintain clinical skills and stay informed on professional issues through continuing education and professional memberships.
- Assist with development of new rehabilitation programs and services.
- Maintain cleanliness and infection control standards in clinical and office areas.
- Mentor new staff during orientation and ensure completion of departmental competencies.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Physical Therapist
- Physical Therapist experience within the last year
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical and Working Conditions
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
- Frequent lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Some stress related to responsibility for quality resident care.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
No prior travel experience required.
