Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Burlingame, California
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Responsible for assessment, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in an acute patient setting.
  • Provide direct patient care, patient/family education, and manage transitions of care.
  • Deliver holistic and individualized care considering psychological, sociocultural, spiritual, economic, and lifestyle factors.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare providers through effective communication.

Requirements

  • Current California RN Licensure
  • BLS (AHA) certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Orthopedics, Vascular, or Robotic Surgery
  • CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
  • Scrubbing experience highly recommended

Shift Details

  • 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each
  • Weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirement
  • Occasional float to outpatient surgery possible

Certifications & Verifications

  • BLS, ACLS (AHA or ARC only)
  • PALS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) as applicable
  • CCRN, TNCC, EFM, CPI certifications as applicable
  • State License verification (primary source online within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam as applicable
  • IV Certification (if applicable)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
  • Other position-specific certifications may be required

Background Checks & Compliance

  • 7-year background check required within 6 months of start, including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, sex offender search, education verification, and international search if applicable
  • FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
  • Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per CA law)
  • Employment application with full 7 years of work history, no gaps
  • References: 2 professional references required for clinical/allied/per diem acute care candidates

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must clear candidate for work)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titers or vaccination series required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed series, or signed declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30) or signed declination
  • Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start
  • Color Blind Exam if applicable (in-person exam required)
  • Respiratory Safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

    • TB Screening Questionnaire (within 90 days of start, renewed annually)
    • Epic Questionnaire (RN only, required for new candidates starting 11/3/2025 onward)
  • Religious exemption forms required if applicable for PAPR or vaccine exemptions

Additional Notes

  • No on-call required
  • Occasional float to outpatient surgery may be required
  • Must maintain all certifications and background checks current throughout assignment
  • Compliance with all facility and system policies mandatory
