Job Opportunity: GI/Endo Tech
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
- 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (Monday-Friday, 0700-1730)
- Hours may vary occasionally
- No call, no weekends
- Up to 40 hours approved for time off
Required Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- SGNA (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates) certification required at time of submission
- CER (Certified Endoscope Reprocessor) or CFER certification required at time of submission
- State license appropriate for GI/Endo Tech role (Primary Source Verification required within 30 days of start)
Experience & Skills
- Specialty: Surgical Services (GI/Endo Tech)
- EPIC and Provation experience required
- Years of experience: Minimum 1 year as an Endoscopy Technician, with experience within the last year
- Experience working with Adult, Maternal-Fetal, Neonate, and Pediatric patients
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of I9 or Attestation
- Government-issued photo ID carried during hours of service
- 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 30 days
- Education verification through official transcript (photocopy of diploma not acceptable)
- Drug testing within 2 months of start, updated annually (10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl)
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold acceptable)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
- Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (positive required or follow-up antigen titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or titer required)
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions accepted)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Review and initial professional appearance guidelines
- Complete UVA-specific screening, release authorization, TB screening, and traveler compliance forms prior to start
- Fit testing may be required onsite for patient-facing roles
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment not required for GI/Endo Tech
- National certification verification required within 30 days of start
Additional Notes
- Candidate must have both SGNA and CER or CFER certifications at time of submission
- No prior travel experience required for this position
- No call or weekend shifts required
- Background checks and health documents must include at least two patient identifiers (e.g., name, DOB, address, phone number, or last 4 digits of SSN)
