Overview

• Travel/Contract RN role in Springfield, Illinois
• Day shift: 4x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
• 13-week contract
• Every other weekend required
• Will float as needed within scope
• Locals accepted
• First-timers not accepted
• On-call not required
• Block schedule can be discussed with the manager
• RTO ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Intermediate Care experience within the last year
• Intermediate Care (1 year of experience)
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Post Cardiac Angiogram care
• Post MI care
• Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization care
• Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery care
• Sheath Removal
• TR Band management
• Feeding tube care and management

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS preferred
• Cerner experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Level I Trauma experience preferred

Required Experience / Clinical Skills

• Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Telemetry monitoring on the unit
  • Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Cardiovascular skills, including:

  • Post Cardiac Angiogram
  • Post MI
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery
  • Sheath Removal
  • TR Band
• Gastrointestinal skills:

  • Feeding tube care and management
• Genitourinary/Renal skills:

  • Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management
  • Renal failure
• IV therapy / phlebotomy skills, including:

  • Accessing Ports
  • Arterial line management
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Central line care/management
  • Phlebotomy
  • Peripheral Line Care/Management
  • PICC line management
  • Starting IVs
• Medication skills, including:

  • Heparin Protocols
  • Manage Cardiac drips - no titration
  • Manage Vasoactive drips - no titration
  • PCA
  • Procedural Sedation Administration
  • Titrate Cardiac drips
  • Titrate Vasoactive drips
• Neurological/Psychiatric case experience, including:

  • Craniotomy
  • CVA
  • Pre/Post neurosurgery
  • Spinal cord injury
  • Traumatic Brain injury
• Orthopedics case experience, including:

  • Ortho Trauma
  • Peripheral nerve block catheters
  • Total Joint Replacements
• Plastic Surgery case experience, including:

  • Skin grafts
  • Surgical drains
• Respiratory skills, including:

  • Care of Ventilated Patient
  • Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac
  • External CPAP/BIPAP
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Nasal Cannula
  • Oxygen face masks
  • Portable Oxygen tank
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Tracheostomy Management
• Isolation Precautions
• Wound Care/Wound Vac
