Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Oncology

Overview

• Location: Aurora, Colorado
• Employment type: Travel/Contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Unit: Surgical oncology unit (36 total staffed beds)
• Shifts: Night (3x12 hours, 19:00–07:00) or Day (3x12 hours, 07:00–19:00)
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Scrub color: Navy

Unit and Patient Population

• Majority of procedures and diagnoses are abdominal or pelvic, including gynecologic oncology, colorectal, pancreatic, liver, and stomach.
• Patients have a known cancer diagnosis and need surgical interventions to manage their disease or complications.
• Nursing staff helps patients meet post-op milestones for discharge.
• No chemotherapy or biotherapy is administered on this unit.

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Rotating shifts on various days of the week; weekend work required per unit needs.
• On-call: Not required.
• Floating: Floats within scope as required and between like units, and may float to sister facilities based on needs.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6, which may flex up based on staffing and unit needs.
• RTO: 10 RTO days maximum, approved. RTO is not allowed during Oct 25–Nov 4, 2026; Nov 22–Dec 2, 2026; and Dec 20, 2026–Jan 3, 2027.
• Lodging: Not stated.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg experience (2 years)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Surgical Oncology experience
• Experience in a teaching hospital setting
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or RQI

Not Required

• ACLS is not required for MS/Tele.
• Chemo certification is not required; staff does not need to be chemo certified to apply.

Additional Information

• Facility-specific modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment.
