Job Description

  • Must be an IMCU-level RN for this Progressive Care Unit (PCU).
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with general respiratory failure, cardiac, renal, CIWA, and GI conditions.
  • Float to other units (IMCU, Telemetry, CDU) and campuses within a 30-mile radius may be required, though floating is rare at Edmonds campus.
  • Responsibilities include care for pre/post cardiac catheterization patients, managing Bipap, CPAP, breathing treatments, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blankets, obtaining 12-lead EKGs, managing drains, epidural pumps, feeding tubes, fistulas, PCA pumps, PICC/central lines, port-a-cath, vascular device access/care, syringe pumps, triple lumen catheters, wound vacs, and administration of medications such as amiodarone, antiarrhythmics, anti-seizure drugs, beta blockers, Cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, insulin, levophed, magnesium sulfate, milrinone, nitroglycerin, and norepinephrine.
  • Staffing ratios: 1:3 for IMCU patients, 1:4 for telemetry patients.
  • Mixed telemetry and IMCU patients on two floors (IMCU on 3E, Telemetry on 2E).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington.
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • ACLS certification.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned learning management system.
  • Must complete facility-specific float policy acknowledgment.
  • Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required.
  • WA State Patrol background search required within 90 days of start for Washington placements.
  • Must complete multi-state licensed nurse demographic attestation if working with an out-of-state compact license in Washington.
  • Physical and health documents must be uploaded and kept current.

Notes

  • Previous permanent employees of any affiliated facility must have a minimum 3-month separation before qualifying for this travel position.
  • Lyft rides are provided for travel between campuses during onboarding.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required; first-time travelers are accepted.
