Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 16 weeks


Job Description

  • Rotating shifts with day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) schedules, working 3 shifts per week (12 hours each, total 36 hours/week)
  • Up to 10 days Return to Office (RTO) per 13-week contract, with additional RTO prorated based on contract length
  • Critical care experience required with advanced cardiovascular support skills including:
    • Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
    • Swan-Ganz catheter management
    • Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) devices such as Impella, IBAP, LVAD/RVAD, ECMO
  • EPIC electronic charting experience required
  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • Candidates must not reside in Utah (locals not accepted)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with EPIC electronic charting system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check within 6 months prior to start date, including social security trace, county, nationwide, and sex offender registry checks
  • Monthly updates for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings after hire
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date (not required by client but required by agency)
  • Annual respirator medical clearance and fit testing if respirator use is required onsite
  • Drug screening: 11-panel urine drug test including MDMA within 30 days of start (valid for 2 years)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Flu vaccine required annually (medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility approval)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer showing immunity (vaccine series alone not accepted; exemptions considered case-by-case)
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
  • References:
    • For candidates starting 6/18/23 or later: 3 professional references including at least 1 supervisor/manager
    • For earlier start dates: 2 references

Additional Notes

  • Locals are not eligible; candidate must live outside Utah
  • Prior travel experience is not required
  • Candidates with latex allergies will have access to non-latex gloves
  • Facility-specific exemption forms available for vaccinations if needed
