Registered Nurse (PCU) - Roanoke, Virginia
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (PCU - Progressive Care Unit, General Medicine/Observation)
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Weekend Requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Floating: Required to float within skillset
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in PCU - Progressive Care Unit
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in Telemetry
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Clinical & Unit Details
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5, goal ratio 1:4
- Telemetry: Remote monitoring with monitors remaining on the unit; tele-sitting support available
- Charting System: Epic experience required
Additional Requirements
- References: Two clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Background Checks: 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be current within 1 year of start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; updated annually
- Required immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
- Other Documentation:
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with address within 100 miles of facility required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- Education verification of highest earned degree
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Completion of facility-specific new hire paperwork and orientation materials prior to start
- Professional photo for badge required
Scheduling & Policies
- Call-off Policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Requests: All return-to-office, block, and special scheduling requests must be submitted with application
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Locals: Accepted (subject to radius criteria)
