Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Nurse (LVN / LPN)

Location: Auburn, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (36 hours/week)
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday

Job Summary

• Floating as needed per facility requirements
• Recent experience required within the past year
• Minimum 1 year of LVN/LPN experience required
• Work involves telemetry (MS/Tele), dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of rapid response/code teams, peripheral line care, oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with recent experience within the last year
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Proficient in use of Rapid Response and Code teams

Skills and Competencies

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Use of rapid response and code teams
• Peripheral line care and management
• Oxygen administration via nasal cannula and tanks
• Non-invasive airway management
• Adherence to isolation precautions
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam completed within 12 months prior to start, signed by a licensed provider
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (specific approved mask types required)
• Immunizations and/or immunity documentation required for:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years or declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (during flu season)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with annual TB questionnaire if history of positive test
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start

Documentation and Compliance

• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including:

  • Code of Conduct
  • Patient Abuse Reporting
  • Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement
  • Orientation Packet Acknowledgement
  • Automated Dispensing Cabinet Security (for Pyxis access)
• Annual tuberculosis screening questionnaire required
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire
• Skills checklist required

Additional Notes

• Call-off policy allows up to 3 shifts off per 13-week assignment
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application; no RTO approved after offer
• No nursing license issues or disciplinary actions allowed
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
