Job Description

• Work primarily in Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (Pre/PACU) settings.
• Pre/PACU experience is required.
• CAPA and/or CPAN certification preferred.
• Schedule is rotational starting between 5:30 AM and 8:00 AM, with shifts known in advance.
• Floating between surgery center and main hospital campus required at times.
• Meditech experience preferred.
• Late shifts are shared and assigned.
• Kerrville is located in Texas's wine country, about 1 hour from San Antonio.

Shift Details

• Day shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
• 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (40 hours/week)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Pre-Operative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PreOp/PACU).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including Social Security trace, county searches for all locations lived/worked/schooled, nationwide sex offender check, and education verification.
• Annual verification of EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusion lists.
• Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (specific to travel placement).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility timeline.
• Vaccination or documented declination for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Seasonal Flu (vaccination or declination required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year of start.

Competency Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam with a minimum score of 80%.
• Specialty competency exams as applicable with a minimum score of 80%.

Additional Notes

• Floating between different units on campus is required.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• CAPA and/or CPAN certification preferred but not mandatory.
