Job Opportunity: Electrophysiology Tech

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts or 4x10 hour day shifts
  • Hours: 07:00 - 17:00 with 2 days of late case coverage per week
  • On Call/Weekend Requirement: None
  • Floating Requirement: None
  • Daily Caseload: Average 18 cases

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of Electrophysiology (EP) Lab clinical experience
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers with required EP experience
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health records system
  • Proficient in EP Lab procedures including hemodynamic monitoring and ablations
  • EKG experience required in inpatient and outpatient settings, including obtaining vitals and sinus node rhythms
  • Equipment experience required with Philips and Siemens X-Ray machines, GE Micropacer
  • Preferred experience with 3D mapping systems (Biosense, Abbott/ESI), ultrasound equipment, and laser lead machines
  • Preferred skills: groin closure device, peripherals, laser lead extraction
  • Preferred work settings: trauma and children’s hospital environments

Special Procedures / Unit Details

  • Cardiac Electrophysiology studies
  • Head-Up-Tilt test
  • Cardioversion
  • Internal Loop Recorder
  • Atrial flutter/fibrillation ablations
  • Supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia ablations
  • Device implants (e.g., pacemaker, defibrillator, Watchman, Aveir)
  • Device explants and lead extractions

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CCI RCES or RCIS certification

Preferred Certifications:

  • ARRT
  • Fluoroscopy permit

Required Qualifications

  • Electrophysiology Technician with a minimum of 1 year of EP Lab clinical experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Proficient in EP Lab procedures including hemodynamic monitoring and ablations
  • EKG Technician experience with required skills in EKG settings
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health records system
  • Valid certification in ACLS, BLS, and CCI RCES or CCI RCIS

Additional Requirements

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
  • Photo for badge with specific requirements (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)

  • Scrubs are provided
  • Facility is a short-term acute care teaching hospital with a large cardiac program
  • Charting systems include Cerner and GE Cardiolab
  • Medication dispensing via Pyxis system
