Required qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
Neuro ICU experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Unit details

16-bed CV neuro ICU
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
RNs read their own strips
No tele/monitor techs on the unit
Two clinical techs for 16 patients

Patient population

Stroke and hemorrhagic stroke patients
Brain tumor, cerebral edema, hydrocephalus, and increased ICP cases
Respiratory failure, sepsis, pneumonia, ARDS, COPD exacerbation, and asthma exacerbation
Acute heart failure/pulmonary edema, AKI, DKA, HHS, GI bleeding, acute liver failure, and severe electrolyte abnormalities

Clinical responsibilities

Titrate drips
Float first to MSICU and PCCU
Take care of boarders up to four

Equipment

Mechanical ventilator
High-flow nasal cannula
BiPAP/CPAP

Scheduling expectations

1 major holiday and 1 minor holiday per year
Navy blue scrubs
