Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 34
• Patient Ratios: 6:1
• Staffing Support:

  • Tech support available on day and night shifts
  • Unit secretary available 7am-7pm
• Equipment Used: IV Pumps, Telemetry, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Continuous Pulse Oximetry, Feeding Pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling:

  • 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
  • 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
• Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Med/Surg nursing (highest required experience)
• Med/Surg experience with ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, perform basic wound care, and maintain surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Additional Information

• Expected to provide attentive and compassionate care, including bedside shift reports and involving patients and family members in the plan of care
• Hospital certifications include Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
• No advanced skills or specific procedures required on this unit
