Position Details

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Number of Beds: 34
- Patient Ratios: 6:1
- Staffing Support:
- Tech support available on day and night shifts
- Unit secretary available 7am-7pm
- Equipment Used: IV Pumps, Telemetry, Sequential Compression Devices (SCDs), Continuous Pulse Oximetry, Feeding Pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology
- Documentation System: Meditech
- Scheduling:
- 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
- 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
- Floating Policy: Contract labor floats first; rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Med/Surg nursing (highest required experience)
- Med/Surg experience with ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, perform basic wound care, and maintain surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
Additional Information
- Expected to provide attentive and compassionate care, including bedside shift reports and involving patients and family members in the plan of care
- Hospital certifications include Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
- No advanced skills or specific procedures required on this unit
