ICU Resource Team RN - North Dakota (Fargo)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota or compact state RN license
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS certification
- Minimum 2 years ICU RN experience in a large hospital (250+ beds) with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
- Experience titrating vasopressor drips (must be documented on resume or skills checklist)
- Experience with Epic charting
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Manage 1-3 critically ill patients across various populations including neuro, cardiac, cardiothoracic surgery, trauma, medical, and surgical patients
- Manage vasopressors, sedatives, analgesics, inotropics, antiarrhythmics, and other titratable drips
- Assist with bedside procedures such as rapid sequence intubation (RSI), external ventricular drain (EVD) placement, tracheostomy, line placement, and other diagnostic tests
- Use equipment including Epic EMR, Omnicell Automated Dispensing Cabinet, Aleris IV pumps, MOOG feeding pumps, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), EVD, Phillips patient monitoring systems, AvaSure patient monitoring, and Impella
Unit Information
- 32-bed critical care unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Floating to all critical care departments including Intermediate ICU (ratios up to 4:1) and Broadway ICU (ratios up to 3:1)
- May float to medical-surgical units as needed
Orientation & Training
- Total of 32 hours orientation during the first week:
- 8 hours hospital orientation
- 8 hours unit orientation
- 4 hours Intermediate ICU orientation
- 12 hours Broadway ICU orientation
Shift / Schedule
- Rotating day/night shifts (8 and 12 hours), occasional 4-hour shifts
- Every other weekend and every other holiday
- No call required
- Must call in each day prior to shift to confirm assignment location
- May be assigned up to 3 patients
- Employee will not work alone
Additional Notes
- Must have prior experience in a Level 1 or 2 trauma center with 250+ beds
- Must be able to care for critically ill patients independently
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
- Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
- Floating to multiple critical care units within the facility
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
