Neuro ICU Travel Nurse Opportunity

Unit Details

• Unit: Neuro ICU
• Unit size: 32 beds
• Hospital size: Large (450+ beds)
• Trauma Level: Level 1 Trauma Center
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
• EMR system: Cerner
• Charge nurse role: Yes (does not take patients)
• Telemetry monitors: Phillips
• Ventilators: Yes
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage
• Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7am-7pm or 7pm-7am)
• Floating: Required to float between all ICU floors and Telemetry units (4:1 patient load on Tele)
• Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts on the floor
• Holidays: Work into core staff rotation, including 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks and 2 out of 4 major holidays

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large hospital (450+ beds)
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• 3-6 months previous travel experience required
• Must have Neuro ICU experience with strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience
• EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Prophecy Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max 2 attempts; failure results in 6-month disqualification in CommonSpirit AZ and Sacramento regions)
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Male candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Must pass a Day 1 pass/fail exam during orientation
• SIMs Lab completion required (Foley catheter insertion & central line dressing changes) with strict sterile field adherence
• Must be able to float to Medical-Surgical Telemetry floors
• Must have own vehicle if part of a travel team

Contract Details

• Contract length: 13 weeks minimum
• Weekly orientations on Mondays (except holiday weeks)
• Candidates cannot hold multiple contracts simultaneously with Dignity AZ
• Must have been off CommonSpirit permanent staff for 12 months to qualify for travel assignment

• Teaching hospital: nursing students may be present
• Parking: Assigned parking with shuttle service; night shift parking in garage
• Facility enforces strict grooming and appearance policies
• Candidates must be competent in sterile technique and common ICU nursing skills
• Floating assignments include all ICU and Telemetry units with variable patient loads
